Gender
Why using "preferred pronouns” is important?
When pronouns are used irresponsibly, such as when the pronoun 'she' is used to refer to everyone or when a gendered pronon is used only to describe roles by sex (e.g. the nurse) or when 'she' or 'he' are exchanged as if these concepts are generic, sexist prejudice can arise. Individuals who do not identify with that gender have been connected to a weaker sense of belonging, diminished motivation, and professional misidentification after being exposed to gender-specific language in a formal setting.
