Elderly & Sex
What physical changes related to sexual activities shall I expect as a man?
Many of the physical changes in sexual arousal are the result of hormonal changes. Studies show that it is common for men to experience a drop in hormone levels around the age of 50. Testosterone (the hormone found in males) starts decreasing at a much lower rate than the hormone levels in women. Estrogen which is the hormone found in women, starts menopause when hormone levels decline rapidly, physical changes include vaginal dryness in women. It might take more time for women to naturally lubricate. As a result of this, it might be painful for the woman to have vaginal penetration. Erectile dysfunction is common with older men. This is inability to keep or maintain an erection , or it would take the man longer to have an erection. The erection will be different from how it used to be in terms of size and firmness. This may happen once in a while, but if it happens regularly it is important to contact a doctor.
