Contraception
How soon should I start using contraception after I had a baby?
You will probably need contraception after 21 days after childbirth. You will start having your period depending if you are breast feeding or bottle feeding. If you are breast feeding your periods will start later than mothers who bottle feed. Whereas mothers who bottle feed start their periods from 4-10 weeks of childbirth. It is important to note that at any time after the birth of your child, as long as you don't have any medical risks, you can use the following: contraceptive implant, male condoms, female condoms, progestogen pill and contrapcetive injection. An IUD can also be inserted within 48 hours of the birth, if it is not inserted within these 48 hours, you will usually be advised to wait until 4 weeks/1 month after the birth of the child.
