Contraception
What is the Morning After Pill?
Morning after pill is also known as the emergency contraceptive pill. This is a pill that a woman can take after unprotected intercourse to decrease her chances of becoming pregnant. This is a type of emergency contraception that prevents pregnancy by delaying ovulation if intercourse occured around the period of ovulation. It may also stop implantation. Morning after pills do not protect against STI transmission. The morning after pill does not provide continuous pregnancy prevention; thus, more effective contraception, such as frequent condom usage or contraceptive pills, are required.
