Genital Hygiene
Will scented sanitary towels make me itch?
Irritation after using a pad can happen because of a number of reasons. This could be because the product is scented and you have sensitivity to perfumes. It could also be because the heat and moisture of wearing a pad has caused bacteria to build up. Scented sanitary towels usually have a layer of absorbent material over the layer with perfume so it rarely comes into contact with your skin. Getting skin irritation or a rash from fragrance in your pad is rare but it is possible. If this is a consistent problem then it can be a good idea to invest in all cotton pads with no dyes or fragrances or in other sanitary products like period panties or cups.
