What is 'gender transition'?
This is period of time when a person begins to live according to their gender identity, rather than their sex assigned at birth, since they identify as gender variant or transgender. Not everyone goes through gender transition, however those who do typically start by changing their appearance, name and/or their pronouns. Some people change their gender on their identification documents and some go through medical procedures to change their physical characteristics. Not all transgender persons decide to go through gender affirming surgeries, and it is important to note that they are still considered transgender men or women accordingly.
