How is infertility diagnosed?
A general physical exam is carried out for both males and females. For females, the physical exam includes a gynecological exam. Some of the specific fertility tests for include: Ovulation testing - It is a blood test that checks the hormone levels and finds out whether the female is ovulating or not.
Ovarian reserve testing - It is a test that helps to assess the quantity of eggs present for ovulation.
Imaging tests - This test includes a pelvic ultrasound which helps rule out any uterine or ovarian disease.
For males, a physical exam will also include a health history check. Some of the specific fertility tests for males include:
Semen analysis - This includes examination of the semen and sperm to see how uniform and acidic they are
Blood tests - This will help to evaluate hormone levels
Other tests - Some tests will be carried out to find out causes of sperm defect or problems in the reproductive system.
