Why haven't I started my period yet?

All bodies are different and go through changes at different times. It could be that your body hasn't yet gone through the necessary changes to start having your period. Periods usually start around 2 years after the first signs of puberty emerge. These signs include breast growth, hair growing under your arms and on your pubic area, and widening in your hips. Periods can start as young as 8 years old but can sometimes not occur until after you turn 15 years old. If you are older than 16 years old and you still haven't gotten your first period, then you should consult with a doctor as to why that might be.
