What is infertility?
Infertility is characterised by not being able to concieve (get pregnant) at least after 1 year or longer, despite having regular unprotected sex. Infertility can be experienced by both men and women. For men, it means they are unable to start a pregnancy with their female partners. In order to do so, its important that the male must be able to produce a healthy sperm that can fertilize an egg, and be able to ejaculate so that the sperm is able to reach the egg. In women, it could be a number of reasons including that fertility tends to decline with age; some practitioners assess and treat women aged 35 or above after 6 months of having unprotected sex. If such a situation occurs, men and women experiencing infertility should look into seeing a doctor that manages fertility problems.
