Disability & Sex
Can people with intellectual disability express their sexuality in satisfying ways?
Historically it has been assumed that persons with intellectual disabilities may be asexual or not engage in romantic or physical relations with others. Human nature has a strong component of sexuality. Sexual ideas, attitudes, feelings, wants, fantasies, and practices are all present in people with intellectual disabilities. From an early age, everyone requires proper knowledge and assistance in order to understand and enjoy sexuality.
